This Man Built The Cutest Village For The Mice In His Garden

Most people can’t stand the idea of a mice-infested house or garden. When they spot a mouse in their home, they immediately set some traps to get rid of it as soon as possible. The situation, however, was very different for this wildlife photographer named Simon Dell from Sheffield, U.K. When he discovered a family of mice in his garden, he wanted to handle with them in his own way, by building them a home!

It started with a simple home but quickly turned into a whole village for the mice in no time. Dell did this to get some cute photographs of the mice family and their babies. Since it was so hard to directly approach them, he built the tiny village hoping that they would stay.

He thought out every little detail for the mice and built a pond, a log cabin, and a ladder that goes to a sheltered woodpile for the mice. Lucky for him, the mice were more than happy with the result. Thanks to the playground Dell provided for them and delicious treats, they started to explore their new home immediately.

Simon even gave the mice names. They are now called George, Mildred, and Mini. He leaves plenty of treats and nuts for his mouse tenants so that they can feast. He becomes so attached to them that he even decorates their house on special days and occasions!

Dell shares his photography on his Facebook page. Along with the mice, he also shares photos of Sheffield, other beautiful places in Europe, his late dog Charlie, and wildlife.

His art has many hints of his personal life. However, the mice family is the center of attention in his works. Since he loves adding humor to his photography, he sometimes even adds a dash of patriotism to his pictures of mice, as was seen during the 2018 World Cup.

Dell’s strong friendship with the mice is growing every day with new additions to the family. Hopefully, the mice will stick around and live a happy life for long years to come.
