Springtime probably makes all of us happy. And we cannot think of a better image to sum up how we feel about spring other than the one we’re about to show you here. This photograph called the Laughing Dormouse by Andrea Zampatti was chosen as a winner of the On Land category in the 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, and we cannot really say it’s surprising. The adorable field mouse captured full of joy and excitement as it perches on a flower. It’s impossible to keep a straight face while looking at this adorable photo! Pretty much everyone either has already been there or wants to go to Iceland as soon as they get the opportunity. According to him, this photographer was one of the latter people only a week ago or so. He’s been photographing nature for years so he was aware that the pictures of the country can be far from reality, so he was careful not to get overexcited. He also wanted to see the Aurora Borealis even if his trip was at the end of April. So, he knew his chances were slim, but it was still possible. He was hoping for nice weather even though he was aware that the extreme weather of Iceland can be rather unpredictable, particularly during the spring. But how was his entire experience? He said, for him, it was everything he was promised when he was reading about Iceland and its incredible nature. He has managed to see the Northern Lights and experienced all types of weather in only a couple of days. He also added that the temperature was changing every day, and he experienced between -5 to 10 degrees Celsius. He has gotten the chance to see the cloudless sky, snow, hailstones, strong winds, and all types of rain he couldn’t even imagine, and he finds Iceland absolutely mind-blowing! Turns out that some trees avoid each other like germaphobes. This peculiar phenomenon is known as ‘crown shyness’ and it naturally occurs in some tree species (such as eucalyptus, and Sitka spruce), resulting in zigzag patterns. ‘Crown shyness’ was first documented in the 1920s, and no one is certain why some trees exhibit it. Some experts attribute this to the harmful insects, others believe it occurs when trees are optimizing light exposure. One thing is for sure though, it shows us how mysterious mother nature is.

An artist named Spencer Byles wanted to work with nature to make sculptures in the forests of France. Using naturally sourced materials and man-made objects, he built about twenty sculptures and installations in a year in various regions of France. Spencer specifically wants his sculptures to be temporary. Because in this way, sculptures and nature can better adapt to each other.

Multimedia artist Ellie Davis photographed forests in the UK for seven years, aiming to transform forests into fairy-tale landscapes. According to the artist, his work explores how our identity is shaped by the landscapes we live in.

Photographer Lisa Wood, from Idaho, uses time-lapse and multiple exposure techniques to take photos she calls Art of Farmland. The photographer aims for people to look at rural landscapes with different eyes and see how beautiful they are.
