This Irish Photographer Managed To Capture Starlings Forming A Murmuration In The Shape Of A Giant Bird

If you’ve seen the movie Finding Nemo, you know that in one scene you can see a school of fish snapping into a formation that looks like a much larger fish. This Irish photographer named James Crombie managed to catch that kind of a thing happening in real life; but, instead of a flock of fish, he captured a flock of starlings over Lough Ennell in County Westmeath, Ireland in a seriously mind-blowing sight. A short while ago, James Crombie was named photographer of the year by the Press Photographers Association of Ireland. James actually is a sports photographer, but with extra time over the past year, due to the pandemic and various sports events being canceled, he has turned some of his attention to nature photography as well.

On March 2nd, 2021, a Tuesday night, Crombie shot hundreds of photos of the birds.

He finally managed to take the incredible image he had been seeking for quite some time

“Absolutely magical to witness such an incredible thing...my friend Colin Hogg and I followed them for 3 months around Louth, Ennell, Mullingar, Co.Westmeath, Ireland taking a ton of pictures just waiting for that perfect one,” Crombie said.

“And we were lucky enough to witness this natural wonder.”

This must be the most beautiful photo among the ones he managed to capture.

Crombie’s friend Colin Hogg also managed to take a video of the entire thing frame by frame

Of course, the people on the internet had a lot to say about this incredible event and the photos:
