This Tree Is Fascinating Everyone By Its Strong Will To Live

There is a very unique tree in Kalaloch Beach, within Olympic National Park in Washington, that a lot of people call "the tree of life" due to the unbelievable way it seems to be hanging on to life when it should have been dead ages ago.

The tree can be found a little bit north of Kalaloch Lodge, close to the Kalaloch Campground, on a cliff that has in part caved in because of erosion- right under the tree. The only thing that ties the tree to the ground is a couple of weak roots, but the majority of them are exposed and spread out over a void. Nobody seems to quite figure out how the tree is still breathing and thriving and sprouting fresh green leaves every spring even though it has no soil underneath. There's no explanation as to how the tree managed to not topple over during the intense storms that the coast is known for.

The tree doesn't really have an official name, all we know is that it's a Sitka spruce. People gave it a couple of nicknames such as "the tree of life" and "the runaway tree", though. There's a cave-like structure underneath the tree that some people call "the tree root cave".

We couldn't find any information about the actual age of the tree or for how long it's hanging there for its life. The cave under the tree emerged thanks to a small stream that empties into the ocean and has been washing the soil out from underneath it. According to the information we managed to gather this probably happened many decades ago.
