“This was truly one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments,” says the wildlife photographer Rahul Singh who has managed to capture a lot of incredible photos using a wide variety of different animal species as his subjects. His subjects include animals such as elephants, deer, jackals, monkeys, and rhinos. Even though all his works are truly stunning, his real passion is taking photos of colorful birds he can find nesting in his home city. Recently, he managed to capture a moment that left him utterly speechless.

“I went to a place where there were bushes of these beautiful bananas to capture some images of sunbirds sucking nectar from it.”

“Everything was going as expected, when all of a sudden, I was shocked that the crimson sunbird started taking a bath in the water stored in the banana flower petal.” The red petaled flower you see in these photos is named the banana flower, and it collected water from the early morning drizzle in one of its petals.

The small crimson sunbird, which merely stretches to 4 inches long made the most of this opportunity to cool down on a very hot day. After consuming a good amount of nectar, the tiny songbird cooled down in the petal ‘bathtub’.

This was a very unique experience for Rahul since in all his years of bird watching, he had never witnessed anything like it. “I was seriously baffled to see this peculiar behavior, I kept my camera’s shutter button pressed as the bird took her bath.”
