This Island Located In Wilsons Promontory, Australia Looks Exactly Like A Skull
Cleft Island which is also called Skull Rock, is a granite island that can be found off the coast of Wilsons Promontory in the state of Victoria, in Australia. The island is a part of a group that consists of three islands named the Anser Group and is one of the most strikingly beautiful of all islands in Wilsons Promontory.
here's a massive cave with a grassy floor on the western side of the island, that was perhaps created by the sea when the sea levels were much higher, thousands of years ago.
This cave we're talking about is 130 meters wide, 60 meters high, and 60 meters deep. When you look at it from a specific angle, it looks like a skull-thus the name Skull Rock- complete with a massive cranium, an eye socket (the cave), and the bridge of a nose. It's believed that the cave used to be used as a target practice by passing ships.
You can actually find two big caves on the western side. The roof of the one that's smaller is approximately 25 meters above the sea and forms the floor of the larger cave on the upper side, and is covered with soil and vegetation on the surface.
It's nearly impossible to gain access to the island since it has tall vertical cliffs and no place where a small boat could come ashore and anchor.
Due to this situation, few people could have the chance to visit the island or explore the cave. The ones that were lucky enough, however, reported that there were cannonballs inside the cave. Apparently, the island's main inhabitants are birds, especially Black-faced cormorants, and they chose this island due to its isolation and inaccessibility to humans.
