Horses have originally domesticated nearly 6,000 ago, or so the DNA research suggests. The first domestic horses were found in Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, but they swiftly expanded throughout Europe and Asia. These horses were used for a number of tasks including meat production, milk production, and of course, riding. Horses are still used for a lot of purposes across the globe today. They are usually employed for racing, farm work, meat, hauling weights, and various other purposes. There are more than 400 different horse breeds on Earth, with varying sizes, conformations, and colors. While one can argue that all horses are majestic in their own way, some are more aesthetically pleasing than others. Is it a sea sheep? Or a sea calf, maybe? If you don’t think this creature you see in the picture looks like a sheep, well, its name is Costasiella kuroshimae, which means “Leaf Sheep”, quite literally! This adorable tiny sea slug with its beady eyes and cute feelers looks just like a cartoon sea sheep and feeds on algae just like the real animal! The tiny adorable species, which can grow up to 5mm in length and can be seen around Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines is astonishing since it is one of the world’s few water organisms that can do photosynthesis (the others are all members of the sacoglossa sea slug clade). When these peculiar organisms consume algae the chloroplasts are sucked out and incorporated into their bodies in a process called kleptoplasty. This process, which can only be carried out by single-celled creatures, successfully turns them into solar-powered slugs. Springtime probably makes all of us happy. And we cannot think of a better image to sum up how we feel about spring other than the one we’re about to show you here. This photograph called the Laughing Dormouse by Andrea Zampatti was chosen as a winner of the On Land category in the 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, and we cannot really say it’s surprising. The adorable field mouse captured full of joy and excitement as it perches on a flower. It’s impossible to keep a straight face while looking at this adorable photo! It makes our hearts filled with joy as well!

Nature never ceases to amaze us, and especially during these trying times when everything seems kind of depressing and boring, it’s always nice to look at some fascinating things. The photographers on our list managed to capture one of the most mind-blowing things nature has given to us-aurora borealis. This stunning phenomenon occurs in high-latitude places due to the disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by the solar wind. Aurora borealis is very colorful, gorgeous, and to be honest, it seems like something magical. If you’re into photography, you probably know that bird photos are one of the most difficult ones to capture. Of course, you can just take a shot of them, but capturing an amazing photo requires a great amount of talent. The photographers take hours and hours to set up their shots, sneak and move in total stealth and wait patiently for days on end with their awfully expensive equipment. I think we can all agree that people that dedicate their time to avian photography should get the credit they deserve. The Bird Photographer Of The Year Awards is one of the most respected awards of bird photography. They have chosen 31 finalists for their competition from more than 20,000 entries. One can say these finalists are indeed the best of the best when it comes to bird photography. Pretty much everyone either has already been there or wants to go to Iceland as soon as they get the opportunity. According to him, this photographer was one of the latter people only a week ago or so. He’s been photographing nature for years so he was aware that the pictures of the country can be far from reality, so he was careful not to get overexcited. He also wanted to see the Aurora Borealis even if his trip was at the end of April. So, he knew his chances were slim, but it was still possible. He was hoping for nice weather even though he was aware that the extreme weather of Iceland can be rather unpredictable, particularly during the spring. But how was his entire experience? He said, for him, it was everything he was promised when he was reading about Iceland and its incredible nature. He has managed to see the Northern Lights and experienced all types of weather in only a couple of days. He also added that the temperature was changing every day, and he experienced between -5 to 10 degrees Celsius. He has gotten the chance to see the cloudless sky, snow, hailstones, strong winds, and all types of rain he couldn’t even imagine, and he finds Iceland absolutely mind-blowing! High in the Andes among frozen glaciers, where pretty much nothing manages to survive, a tiny and chubby, blue-gray feathered bird lays their eggs and raises their young. It’s the only bird, apart from emperor penguins, known to nest on ice-one of the most inappropriate environments for raising young ones.

This Los Angeles-based wildlife photographer named Simon Needham takes mind-blowing portraits of a wide variety of animals to raise awareness of endangered species and encourage conservation efforts.
