This Irish Photographer Managed To Capture Starlings Forming A Murmuration In The Shape Of A Giant Bird

If you’ve seen the movie Finding Nemo, you know that in one scene you can see a school of fish snapping into a formation that looks like a much larger fish. This Irish photographer named James Crombie managed to catch that kind of a thing happening in real life; but, instead of a flock of fish, he captured a flock of starlings over Lough Ennell in County Westmeath, Ireland in a seriously mind-blowing sight. A short while ago, James Crombie was named photographer of the year by the Press Photographers Association of Ireland. James actually is a sports photographer, but with extra time over the past year, due to the pandemic and various sports events being canceled, he has turned some of his attention to nature photography as well.

Bolton Strid: A Stream That Takes The Lives Of Many People

This extremely dangerous, natural booby trap can be found between Barden Tower and Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire, England. It's a tiny, harmless-looking mountain stream, approximately six feet across, named Bolton Strid, or simply the Strid. However, under the water's surface, there is a deep gorge with strong undercurrents that pulls whoever falls into it to certain death. According to the rumors, not even a single person that has fallen into the Strid has managed to come out of it alive. Even their bodies haven't been found. If you have doubts about how a small mountain brook can be so deadly, you need to walk upstream. In less than 100 yards, this "harmless" stream will turn into a river 30 feet across. This river is called River Wharfe which runs through Yorkshire, but when it comes to the area of Bolton Abbey the river has to go through a small gap which causes the water to gain enormous speed and depth. The small gap on the Strid is merely an illusion as both banks are significantly undercut. Underneath is a network of hidden caverns and tunnels with the rest of the water of the river inside them. Nobody has an idea about how deep the Strid actually is.

Pretty much everyone either has already been there or wants to go to Iceland as soon as they get the opportunity. According to him, this photographer was one of the latter people only a week ago or so. He’s been photographing nature for years so he was aware that the pictures of the country can be far from reality, so he was careful not to get overexcited. He also wanted to see the Aurora Borealis even if his trip was at the end of April. So, he knew his chances were slim, but it was still possible. He was hoping for nice weather even though he was aware that the extreme weather of Iceland can be rather unpredictable, particularly during the spring. But how was his entire experience? He said, for him, it was everything he was promised when he was reading about Iceland and its incredible nature. He has managed to see the Northern Lights and experienced all types of weather in only a couple of days. He also added that the temperature was changing every day, and he experienced between -5 to 10 degrees Celsius. He has gotten the chance to see the cloudless sky, snow, hailstones, strong winds, and all types of rain he couldn’t even imagine, and he finds Iceland absolutely mind-blowing!
