A New Asphalt Road Made Of Old Plastic Bottles Which Can Last 10 Times Longer

Plastics are posing serious danger for our world by causing pollution on soil and seas. Not only it pollutes the world, but also it lasts so long for plastic to be biodegraded. Some people with awareness tried to clean stuff by themselves but it was not sufficient.

However, a company from UK may change this. They have an idea of using plastic bottles of water to make roads that we drive. MacRebur is the inventor of this brilliant idea which not only is a wonderful solution but also it lasts longer as being more durable than the usual asphalt road. Let’s see how it’s done.

The CEO of the company, Toby McCartney was working with a charity in Southern India and an idea popped in his mind. In the work with Southern India consisted, the main actors were garbage collectors and some of the plastics they gathered would be melted down and used as filler for pits.

This new asphalt technology might be seen as an upgraded way of asphalt which extends the duration of the roads. Also, the new technology reduces usage of fossil fuel within the production and therefore, decreases the carbon footprint.

This new asphalt consists of blending of granulated plastic trash and usual concrete formula of asphalt used for the roads. The plastic to be used in production should be waste plastic, not new or recycled ones and it requires a certain temperature for melting.

There are many kinds of plastic that can’t be used but there are many that can be used as well such as black plastic not easy to recycle. Black plastic is a cheap and effective way than the usual asphalt technique

The plastic asphalt looks very similar with the usual asphalt except being more flexible.

The elements inside this new road prevents it from being damaged by the heat or cold.

In addition, as being a developed asphalt type, it lasts longer about 3 times and 60% more durable which lowers cracks and pits.

Not only roads, but also car parks, landing fields and drive-ways can be made with this new asphalt which shows that there are other.

It’s never too late to take action for saving the planet.
