It’s About Time We Need To Take Climate Change Seriously And These Photos Will Show You Why

Even though most people seem like they prefer turning a blind eye, it’s actually pretty serious since a lot of countries report forest fires, flash floods, melting glaciers, rising plastic issues, and slowly diminishing forest cover. Our Earth is the only place we can call home, so we better take action before it’s too late.

Victoria Falls located on the Zambezi River was one of the most thriving falls on our planet and also one of the biggest. The locals call it Mosi-oa-Tunya which translates to “The Smoke That Thunders”. However, as you can see in these photos, it has turned into these narrow streams of water over the years.

The once romantic city doesn’t look so romantic now, so to say. Since there are a lot of plastic dumps around the city, its water sources depleted big time. The situation is very serious and really hard to deal with at this point. So much that, filth water from the neighboring canals overflows into the streets from time to time causing floods and terrible conditions for everyone.

To be more specific, these are the photos of Iceland’s Okjokull glacier from the NASA Observatory, and they’re seriously concerning. Okjokull was named as the first glacier to “die out” in Iceland and the country is understandably very sad about it. Iceland even erected a monument dedicated to this glacier and its loss. On the plaque of this monument, it says, “Okjokull is the first glacier that we lost. It’s said that all our glaciers are going to end up this way in the next 200 years. This monument is here to show we’re aware of the situation and we exactly know what to do to stop this.”

We’re sure you’ve heard the name the Great Barrier Reef before. Whether at school or when you’re reading a book or a magazine later in your adult life. Unfortunately, the Great Barrier Reef is also suffering from climate change now. The magnificent coral cover it once had is now almost completely gone!

The Ganges in India is a very active river and it’s untamable for the most part. Usually, when people have tried imposing their “developments” here when it comes to construction, plastic dumping, sewage disposal, etc. into the river, the river had given back to the land. However, in many years, its water levels have depleted greatly. During the monsoons, the river floods, and these floods leave many people homeless.

The lake Urmia in Iran was once incredibly beautiful and bright blue. But now, its water is red due to a number of reasons. It’s been shrinking over the years, and what was once the biggest lake in the middle east is now looking like this because of the presence of all kinds of microorganisms. Since it’s dried up, the lake has become very salty and this attracted the Dunaliella algae, thus the water is red now.

This glacier from Greenland turned into a river now. This radical change has happened in only 10 years! It’s truly unbelievable, we must say.

In 2019-2020 a lot of forests including the Amazon Forests burnt and covered with smoke. What was once a gorgeous green cover is now this dry and sad-looking land. The Amazon forests are one of the largest biodiverse places on our planet, so we really shouldn’t let them die out like this.

Lake Oroville that’s located in North California was once very big. But now, it has shrunk to nearly less than half its size because of climate change. Uncontrolled development, pollution, and other degradations have caused the entire area to look like this.

Chile was always proud of its water bodies and Lake Aculeo had a special place in the hearts of the locals. They were using the water of this lake for irrigation and the agricultural needs of the areas nearby. People from other places such as the Chilean capital Santiago would come here to have a picnic and have a good time at the weekends. But these aren’t possible anymore. The water depletion in Lake Aculeo started in 2011, and in 2021, it’s completely dried out!
